This week has been interesting. I've wavered from being fine with the status quo to being extremely pissed off at my daughter. Mind you, I haven't let her know I'm pissed. It's just this isn't a good time for me to quit my job. Pastor came back from his vacation and he and I spoke and I let him know why I was resigning and how much I wish I didn't have to but...

He is completely supportive of me and the decision I made to put family first but he also let me know that he personally and the school board don't want me to leave. That it has already been discussed that when my boss retires, the position was to be mine. That's nice to know...too bad I won't be able to accept. The original plan was for her to retire in 2008 but due to health issues, she has since given notice that her last day will be May 31 of next year. I have waited for so many years to get this position and now, I can't accept it. Oh sure, I could put the baby in child care, lots of people do just that (and there is nothing wrong with it if it is a decision they are comfortable with) but I can't have my first grandchild being raised by someone else. Because of my job, I hear the horror stories, hell, I know people who have had a child die violently at a home day care...a recommended, checked out, licensed day care at that. It's too scary to consider. So, yes, I may be giving up my dream for now, but, one day, I will have the opportunity to return...and it sounds like they just might take me back. Kaitlyn's education and the well being of her child are top priority. I'm still young, I have time...and who knows, Maybe staying home is just what I need. Once again, I'll have a standing date with Bob Barker at 10 a.m.

Now that I've had time to process the news....AHEM....I am going to be a grandmother....okay...wait...I'm entirely too young to be a "grandmother". "Grandmothers" are older wth buns in their hair. At least that's how I see them in my head. My Grandmothers WERE old. My Mom and Dad were the youngers of both sets of families so my grandparents were almost in their 60's when we were born. NOT that I consider 60's old....mind you. Just that they WERE old. They were pretty much retired, Grandma DID wear her long (long long) gray hair in a bun. They were the old fashioned version of Grandparents. Todays Grandmas are (in alot of instances) still working, still look young.

ANYWAY, back to my point, and yes, I do have one. My daughter let me know almost 2 weeks ago that she is pregnant. This means that at the "ripe old age" of 38 I will become a "grandma". I repeat that I am TOO young to be a "grandmother" so I am debating between a few other choices. Eric's parents are already Grandparents. So they will be Nana and Papa. I am debating between the following two....YaYa (greek for grandma) and MiMi (pronounced Me Me). I have til December to figure it out. But, this is one of those things that I keep running through my head at 2:30 in the morning when I should be sleeping. I mean, let's face it, there are women older than me by several years who are becoming first time mothers. SO .... I can't stand the thought of being called Grandma.

I know the baby may eventually call me some cute name of his/her own choosing, and if that happens, I'll deal. But that doesn't mean I can't try to steer his /her little mind now....does it??

BLAH~

Sunday, April 02, 2006

So, we have a new "baby" in the house. We adopted Tiggy last week and he is the sweetest cat we've ever had. He loves to be held and cuddled. He also whines and fusses and complains mightily if he is not the center of your universe. Because of which, his new name is Tiggy J.J. So named after a (former) friend of mine who liked to imagine himself the center of the universe and demanded attention.

Tiggy and the dogs have adapted well to living in the same house. Frecks and Bandit have always lived with cats so they were easily won over by him. Only Punky Brewster has had to adapt her behavoir and become polite to her new sibling. Of course, seeing as how she is only 3 1/2 months old, she's coming along just fine.

Not much else going on...have errands to run. TTFN~
